1979

Twenty-three acres at Highway 101 and Bicentennial Way purchased as site for the Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center.

1980

First Kaiser Permanente clinic in Santa Rosa opens in temporary facilities at Creekside Plaza to care for 25,000 Sonoma County members.

1981

First Medical Office Building/Clinic (MOB West) opens on the Bicentennial Way site. The facility includes x-ray and laboratory operations, and full-time departments of pediatrics, allergy, family practice, internal medicine, Ob/Gyn, and psychiatry. Membership grows to 36,000.

1983

Pediatrics, urology and head & neck surgery moved into temporary buildings on the new hospital site. Membership tops 50,000.

1986

Construction begins on the new hospital.

1987

Major addition to Medical Office Building West completed.

1990

Four-story, 160,000 square foot hospital opens. Membership nearly 70,000.

1991

Second Medical Office Building/Clinic opens (MOB East).

1993

Three-level parking structure completed.

1998

New Spiral CT Scanner installed. Program of coordinated case management care put into place for patients with chronic diseases, such as, asthma, diabetes, heart failure and cardiac rehabilitation.

1999

Laser Vision Correction program begins. Filmless ultrasound system on-line. Membership exceeds 93,000.

2002

United Way presents Kaiser Santa Rosa with their Community Spirit Award for contributions to the community.

2003

In February, Rohnert Park Medical Office Building opens, providing Family Medicine care as well as lab, radiology, pharmacy, optometry, and optical sales.

2003

In October, the Richard Stein Medical Office Building opens and becomes new home to Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Optical sales. Membership reaches 112,000.

2004

The Outpatient Surgery Unit (OSU) provides an additional operating room for same-day surgeries.
