Bio

I feel very fortunate to be a Kaiser physician. I should tell you that at the age of 18, I was hit by a car while on my bike, and whisked to a Kaiser ER for care. I still vividly remember the excellent care I received that day.

I also feel fortunate to live and work in the Bay Area: I was raised in the East Bay, and returned after stops in Los Angeles, Tampa and Vermont/Maine for my education.

I am board-certified in radiation oncology and am happy to discuss clinical trials that Kaiser Permanente is currently enrolling patients.

More details about my specialty:

Radiation oncology was fascinating to me as a student: patients of both genders; young and old; and treatments from head to toe. I very much enjoy working with patients and getting to know them through the course of treatment, and radiation therapy allows for these types of interactions.

My specialty interests and affiliations within my field:

I am a member of ASTRO, the national radiation oncology association.

Current projects or research:

I have published papers and abstracts on prostate cancer, anal cancer, endometrial cancer and vulvar cancer.

People in my life:

I grew up in the East Bay and my mother still lives in the house I was raised in. My sister is an attorney and lives in the South Bay. I am recently married (November 2009). My wife is originally from Lompoc, CA (near Santa Barbara).

An adventure I've had:

I spent a month in Costa Rica as a medical student, studying Spanish and exploring the country.

Favorite place in the world:

My three favorites cities in the world are New York City (for its fast-pace and food), Montreal (for its charm and, at times, the dollar conversion rate) and Florence, Italy (for its beautiful museums and wonderful walks).

One of my recent trips:

My most recent international trip was to New Zealand and Australia, in April of 2009.
