Bio
My parents and extended family are in the medical field so I have had the privilege of growing up being surrounded by medicine. What always struck me as a child, and even to this day, is the excitement and joy that practicing medicine brought my family members.
I was interested in the field of medicine as a child but it was not until I worked in the hospital as a volunteer when I really was exposed to being a health care provider. After the experiences as a volunteer, I was hooked! I wanted to be a physician.
I was always attracted to the field of cardiology because it allowed to me to maintain continuity of taking care of my patients and practice in a field of medicine that was extremely evidenced based. I like the fact that things are continually changing in medicine. The field of cardiology involves doing procedures when indicated but also emphasizes the importance of prevention. This is extremely interesting to me.
I enjoy working in Kaiser for a myriad of reasons. I think that the colleagues that I have the good fortune to work with, both within my department and throughout the medical center, are excellent. In some respects I feel like I am back at an academic medical center because of the breadth of physicians (both primary care as well as specialists) that practice here in the Kaiser Santa Rosa facility. I also enjoy the emphasis on prevention. |
