Bio

I was born and raised in San Francisco and spent every childhood summer in Monte Rio, which was bigger back in the 60's! As a teen I worked at the CYO camp in Occidental and after Nursing School, it seemed logical to come live in beloved Sonoma County. While working in the ICU and Open Heart units at Memorial I returned to school first for a masters in counseling and then for another as nurse practitioner.

I've been at Kaiser since 1991, first in Family Medicine and currently in Pediatrics. Having 3 children, now teenagers, gives me empathy for the challenges families face and I' m honored that people share what is going on for them with me. I've learned to meet and support people wherever they are in their lives.

Because I have a counseling background and am interested in motivation, it seemed natural to start teaching Motivating Change for Regional Health Education. This class for providers melds with my philosophy that our patients are experts in their own lives and we are available for support (and Kaiser offers so many systems for support) and for nurturing positive health behavior change.

You can see my crossed eye in the picture, but only in the picture. I'm forever grateful for the medical care I had as a baby to straighten out my eyes and I'm checking your kids' eyes for that look!
