My first exposure to Emergency Medicine was at the age of sixteen when I was hit by a car while on my bicycle. Since I was underage, I couldn't refuse treatment by the paramedics and was brought to my local Emergency Department.
I found the whole experience fascinating. I was so intrigued, I applied for a job at the hospital doing clerical work and found myself drifting down to the Emergency Department to see what was going on. This went on for years and eventually led to my admission to medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
It was in medical school that I met my wife, who currently practices with TPMG in Santa Rosa in Family Medicine Services. We trained in Chicago and practiced for four years before moving to Northern California where my wife's family currently reside.
Back to my first ambulance ride, no major injuries, just bumps and scrapes and the introduction to Emergency Medicine. |
