Bio

I am a board-certified ophthalmologist licensed in the State of California by the American Board of Ophthalmology. I have been practicing at Kaiser Santa Rosa since 1997 and my specialties include cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and laser treatment of the eye.

I grew up outside of Philadelphia and attended college at Brown University, with a double major of Biological Sciences and English and American Literature. After pursuing graduate studies at Harvard University in Public Policy and Health, I graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1992.

My internship in medicine was done at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and my residency training was at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, one of the oldest & best known training centers in the country. I have authored several ophthalmology articles and am a member of the California Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Sonoma County Medical Association and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

More details about my specialty:

I have always had a great interest & appreciation for vision. It started with doing research in vision and doing some of the early studies in laser treatment of the eye. Since then, I have been focused on getting the best training and keeping up to date on a specialty that has been growing and rapidly evolving. It is one of the most technically demanding specialties.

People in my life:

I am married and live in Santa Rosa with our two adorable school aged children.

Unfortunately our daughter's allergies and asthma prevent us from having furry animals as pets. We had to give our cat away, although the kids still like to visit. Currently we have fish and an ant farm.

Travel

An adventure I've had:

I enjoy traveling and have been several places around the world.
Some countries that I have been to are: Turkey, Greece, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Spain, France, and Italy.

Favorite place in the world:

Two favorite destinations are:
1. Hawaii-- As a young child I grew up in Honolulu and we try to go back frequently.
2. Italy - the Mediterranean climate is very similar to ours. The culture, food, and people are just amazing.
