Bio I became an Optometrist because I like the health care professions, helping people, and the liberty to work part time. I have been with Kaiser since August of 2005 and chose to work for Kaiser because I would have the opportunity to work with other physicians in a group setting. Kaiser is very much a learning environment. Kaiser has an automated computerized record keeping system which brings up patient records and information with the touch of a button. In addition the equipment used for my profession is the latest and enables me to give a more complete eye examination. I enjoy giving thorough eye examinations, treating dry eye patients, working with children and co-managing cataract and lasik patients.
My Medical Specialty
More details about my specialty: I enjoy being an Optometrist and particularly working at Kaiser because I see so many different types of patients with varied medical and refractive issues. My specialty interests and affiliations within my field: Society for the Advancement of Contact Lenses. Laser Vision Correction Affiliate. I have been trained in the treatment of dry eye. Great health resources that I refer to: Medscape is an Internet site I go to for medical information. In addition the Wills Eye Manuel offers much information in unfamiliar settings.
Interests
Tennis has always been my athletic passion and my play time. I have had numerous rankings and played many tournaments. I still play today at a local tennis facility. My other interests include golf which I don't play too much of since my children were born and languages. I have learned Spanish from my patients and tapes. Currently reading: "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote My favorite book or author: The Inner Game of Tennis
Family & Friends

Travel
An adventure I've had: One of the most exciting things I have ever done is to sail the Great Lakes. Once while taking a vacation on Lake Erie we had failed to turn the radio on and got caught in a storm. I had to steer the boat through the storm while my father managed to take down the main sail. The boat literally was vertical at times . I have never been so scared and excited at the same time. Favorite place in the world: My favorite place right now is Santa Rosa . Who would want to go anywhere else with such a wonderful climate and such beautiful scenery.
