Bio
I was born and raised in a small mountain town, in Nueava Imperial, Chile. I grew up in the south, where the winters are stormy but the summers are warm and beautiful. we were surrounded by mountains and the were many rivers nearby. we enjoyed swimming in the lake which was near out house.
I came to the United States when I was a teenager. I came to finish my high school coursework in Portland, Oregon. As you can see I am still here. I was like most immigrants who come to a country without speaking the native language. There were many humorous and sometimes awkward moments, as I slowly learned and read English.
I graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Community affairs and a minor in Social Work. I did part of my graduate work at Portland Sate University and finished my MSW degree at San Francisco State University.
I have worked both in private psychotherapy practices as well as county mental health. I have also worked in school based counseling programs. I have a great deal of experience treating drugs and alcohol dependency and its impact on families. I have been working at Kaiser fro the past 5 years. I currently work with monolingual and bilingual individuals and families with women recovering from substance abused.
My clinical interests also include work with women with eating disorders and Codependency.
