BioI grew up in Michigan's Upper Peninsula area until I went to New England for college and medical school. I received my M.D. from Yale and then went to Denver, Colorado for internal medicine and nephrology training. While there I was also able to take advantage of the excellent skiing in the Rockies. I've been in the San Francisco Bay Area practicing nephrology since 1980. | |
My Medical Specialty | |
More details about my specialty:I chose nephrology because I found I was interested in the physiology of the kidneys. And, as a nephrologist, I enjoy the duties of a specialist but also have the opportunity to see patients - especially those with no kidney function - as often a primary care doctor would. Being a nephrologist offers the best of both worlds as it allows the unusual blend of both specialty and primary care. |

Interests | |
| Bicycling is my main hobby and I do it for fun and to stay in shape. We are really fortunate to live in such a great area because the opportunities for cycling are so fantastic. | |
Family & Friends | |
People in my life:I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 25 years. Currently I have grown children that live in the area as well. |

Travel | |
An adventure I've had:Whenever I travel, I especially like to take my bike. One of my favorite places is cycling in France where I can explore different parts of the country. I think I got the love of France from my mother who was a French teacher. |
