Bio

I was born in New York City and raised in the Bronx. Born in the era of SPUTNIK, schooled in New York City Public Schools, I benefited from a strong science and mathematics education. The eldest of three daughters, my parents encouraged me to become a doctor because I was too bossy to become a nurse. My sisters are both nurses.

When I went to Harvard, my mother left me at my freshman dormitory with the parting words, "We love you very much- don't bring home dirty laundry." I knew much was expected of me.

My parents were right. I toyed with careers in anthropology and advertising, but medicine had the greatest lure. While in medical school, I realized I loved taking care of patients. I loved finding about their lives and woes, their hopes and fears. I liked being part of a practical solution.

My first practice was in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1989 to 2004. While I had a successful and rewarding practice, don't let anybody tell you, "it's not the heat, it's the humidity." It is the heat. Rapid growth of the city and changes in the medical environment led me to join Kaiser Permanente in 2004. It has been a wonderful experience. I'm part of a quality, qualified team that provides great care to its patients. I look forward to a long career here in Santa Rosa. I just wish my typing skills were better!

My Medical Specialty

More details about my specialty:

My specialty of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine allows me to participate in the spectrum of medicine: the care of both chronically and severely acutely ill patients and treatment of curable and incurable diseases.

Interests

Scuba diving is a privilege. It's a quiet, beautiful, weightless environment.
For years, I traveled the world to dive. I look forward to my 50th birthday, when I will dive the Great Barrier Reef.

Long distance running proves you don't have to be fast, just persistent.
