Why I Chose Nursing

I love being able to bring a smile to my patients in such a frightening environment. I love knowing my care helps the patients improve their health or cope with newly diagnosed, difficult diseases and new limitations. I can be a mom, a coach, a teacher and a friend, and I get paid!!!

An Interesting Part of My Job

As crazy as it sounds, I love being able to calm and reassure my patients in the middle of an emergency. My goal is to make sure the patient can put their confidence in us to take care of them while everything seems to be falling apart.

Biography

I was married in 1999 to a wonderful man who worked hard to support me through the RN program. I graduated from SRJC in 2003. I celebrated completing 2 years of "boot camp" with a week learning to scuba and watching monkeys steal food from the visitors on the Mayan Coast. I started as a new grad at Kaiser and loved every minute of learning the system, meeting my patients, becoming a strong cardiac nurse and mastering the art of 4 a.m. vital signs without waking my patients. When I finally felt confident in my practice, we decided to have a baby and my beautiful daughter, Madeline, was born in December 2004 at Kaiser. Staying true to the hours of a night shift nurse, I went into labor at 2 a.m.! Now I enjoy the flexible schedule Kaiser has offered, working 4 days on and 10 days off. I can still pursue my dreams surrounding my career as a nurse AND be home with my daughter, my husband, and over 100 pounds puppy, Grizzly Bear. What a life!!!
