Why I Chose Nursing

I chose nursing because I love the one-on-one exchange that occurs with patient and nurse and because I love the help empower patients to make positive changes in their lives. I also enjoy the teaching aspects of my job.

An Interesting Part of My Job

I thoroughly appreciate the opportunity to be a part of my patient's life altering events. I strive to help them see the positive and useful things that can come out of these events.

Biography

I am very happily married to my best friend. We have one son who is seven months old, two cats, extended family and close friends and neighbors round out our life. Prior to becoming a nurse in 2004, I worked as a certified nursing assistant, caring for patients in their home environment for ten years. I cared for patients of all ages, including hospice patients. Before studying to become a nurse, I received my psychology degree from Sonoma State University. I have lived and traveled throughout Europe. I have also been to Africa and Australia and have backpacked through Mexico.
