BioI was born and raised on the East coast. After 2 cross-country car trips with buddies from school, I decided that California was calling. Fortunately, a position opened for me to complete my 3rd year of internal medicine residency at Kaiser San Francisco. After training in Cardiology, I took a private practice job in San Mateo. Seven years later, the right Kaiser Permanente job became available, and I joined my friends from training, Steve Werlin and Steve Rich, here in Santa Rosa. This was a career move that I am thrilled with to this date. I have taken on the role of subsection chief in Cardiology. Between my clinical and administrative duties, I find that I learn something new every day. I'm truly lucky to have such a satisfying and rewarding career. | |

More details about my specialty:I enjoy working with people. My goal is to see all my patients live every day to its fullest. By impacting on their health, I hope to help them achieve this goal. Current projects or research:My ongoing project is improvement of the Cardiology care provided for our members in Santa Rosa. As subsection chief of Cardiology, I feel an obligation to constantly strive for improvements. Great health resources that I refer to:The internet is an invaluable resource, as are my colleagues. Our recent addition of a newly trained Cardiologist will be a great resource for the entire department. |

Recently, a colleague asked me to recommend a financial adviser, while he and I and my wife were having lunch in the hospital cafeteria. There was a short period of silence, followed by Kathy pointing a finger at me. I suspect that in retirement, I will go back to school and get my MBA degree. People in my life:Kathy, my wife, is the manager of the Health Education Dept. It may seem like a conflict of interest when I refer patients there, but rest assured, she does not work on commission. If you see me eating lunch in the cafeteria, it is virtually guaranteed that you will see her also. My children and people I care about:Our blended family of 4 children provides us with an endless array of entertainment. |

An adventure I've had:Driving cross country from New York to California and visiting multiple National Parks was one of my most exciting adventures. Hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon was awesome. Favorite place in the world:My favorite place in the world is Hawaii. I can't think of a better place to spend some time away from home and work. It is truly a battery recharger for me. |
