Bio

I was born in a small town in Northern India in the foothills of the Himalayas. Growing up there, I had the privilege of being exposed to different cultures and religions. We participated in almost every community's festivities. I learned how to not only respect cultures that are not my own but also that the common thread of humanity binds us all together.

I completed my schooling at Carmel Convent School in the city of Chandigarh, India. I did my undergrad at Government College in Chandigarh in India. I joined Govt. Medical college in Patiala, India in 1985 and graduated in 1990.

I came to the United States 13 years ago and did my residency in Internal Medicine at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. It was a wonderful experience. I joined Kaiser Permanente in July, 2002.

As a physician, my goal is to do the best I can for my patients and to help them to be healthy both physically and mentally. I especially try to focus on preventive care and sometimes spend more than 50% of the visit discussing this.

I enjoy medicine and am a person who believes that learning does not stop at the end of residency. I learn something new everyday from my patients, my colleagues and medical journals and books.

My Medical Specialty

More details about my specialty:

I am an Internist, a physician who specializes in taking care of adults.

I feel blessed to be a doctor; it's a profession through which one tries to make other people's lives better and thus enriches one's own life.

I like to work at Kaiser Permanente because of its focus on prevention. I also appreciate the many chronic disease management programs at Kaiser Permanente. I feel these help my patients with chronic diseases lead lives as close to normal as possible

My favorite book or author:
Agatha Christie

Great movie:
March of the Penguins

Family & Friends

People in my life:

I have been blessed with wonderful parents. They gave the greatest gift, the gift of their time. When I was a child my father read to me almost everyday, my mother cooked fresh home cooked meals three times a day and they both took the time to play with me.

An interesting story about my family or friends:

Recently, I was in India to attend my brother's wedding. The attached photo shows an interesting wedding ceremony.
