BioBorn and raised in San Francisco, I am a Northern California native and third-generation San Franciscan. I attended San Francisco schools K through 12. During the summers when school was out, I spent weeks helping on my grandmother's ranch near Philo, CA which is where my mother was born. When not on the ranch, I would help my father on his route as a teamster delivering items to Bay Area companies. After high school, I attended the University of California at Berkeley and received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, followed by post-graduate work at University of California San Francisco receiving a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy. | |

More details about my specialty:I have been involved with Anesthesia since 1986. I was drawn to this field of medicine because it was a logical extension of my pharmacological background, which included having a doctorate in Pharmacy from UCSF School of Pharmacy. Through my pharmacological specialty I could draw upon my knowledge of drugs and drug dosing to provide good care for my patients. My specialty interests and affiliations within my field:Regional Anesthesia Current projects or research:I have been Chief of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for 14 years and am consistently working on projects to better provide medications and Pharmacy services to Kaiser Permanente members and all health professionals at the Santa Rosa Medical Center. Great health resources that I refer to:Kaiser Permanente provides a variety of resources for the physician to obtain information through its advanced computer network and information system and links. Information is just a click away!! An interesting story from my training:Well, you won't believe this but it is true......The name of the attending physician from my very first clinical rotation, "exam of the patient," when I was a second year medical student was a pulmonologist from Garden Grove, California, named Dr. Richard Frankenstein! Try having the operator at the medical center page that doctor if you dare...!! |

While doing research on my dad's World War II record, I became interested in World War II, its history, veterans and places. I have become a collector of WWII militaria, especially US aviation photos and medals. My oldest son quickly developed an interest and has become very much involved in the hobby. Together, we attend militaria shows, antique stores and outdoor markets looking for items to add to the collection. If you have any questions on World War II or have any items relating to WWII, don't hesitate to contact me. My dad served with the 206th Coastal Artillery in the Aleutian Islands as an Anti-Aircraft crew member battling the Japanese, followed by an assignment in Europe with the 86th division, 839th AAAW bn, battling the Germans until the end of the war. Currently reading: My favorite book or author: Great movie: |

Family & Friends | |
People in my life:Coming from a working class San Francisco family, I, in essence, had two mothers, my working mother and my baby sitter, in whose care I was placed at age one month. Both were very strong women and were very influential in my development. My baby sitter, who fled the Nazis before WWII, cared for me during the day while my mother worked as a secretary. Days were spent playing, visiting the shops along Noriega Avenue in San Francisco, and hiking to the zoo, park, or local playground. It was through her influence that the importance of education was stressed. She was a truly motivating force in my life. My children and people I care about:I am a family man. My family consists of my wife and four children. I enjoy volunteering at the children's school and attending school events. |
